Monaster bazylianów w Wechracie w świetle dokumentów sporządzonych przed jego kasatą w 1808 roku

2019

W roku 1808 zostały sporządzone inwentarze, m.in. „Realności klasztoru bazyliańskiego werchrackiego”, dzięki którym można w przybliżeniu ocenić jego sytuację materialną. Dokumenty te są obecnie częścią zasobu Centralnego Państwowego Archiwum Historycznego Ukrainy we Lwowie. Klasztor należał wówczas do diecezji przemyskiej, dekanatu potylickiego i cyrkułu żółkiewskiego. Konfiskatę dóbr ruchomych i …

Settore ICAR/18 - Storia Dell'ArchitetturaThe paper aims to study some cases of reconstruction of the apse in some churches of Palermo in the second half of the 16th century. These are the churches of St. Sebastiano St. Francesco d’Assisi and St. Martino delle Scale (in the homonymous monastery) in wichfor liturgical reasons the original apse was "transformed" in a "flat" apse to insert in it the wooden choir. The new positioning of the choir after the Tridentine Reform was a central issue in the Europe of the modern age so even in Palermo there were some debates and controversies about this problem. The change of the shape of the apse determined in fact some considerable constructive problems related to its coverage.

The Prague Roots of Polish Benedictines (in the 20th Century)

2020

As a conseąuence of the nineteenth-century dissolution of religious orders, no małe Benedictine monastery survived in Poland. Renewal of religious life was undertaken by Father Klemens Dąbrowski (1875 -1953), from 1909 a monk of the Emaus Monastery in Prague. He found a depth of spiritual life there. During the Great War he was involved in helping Polish refugees. After its conclusion, he decided to return to Poland. In the years 1919 -1923 he attempted to create a Polish foundation based on the monastery in Prague (at the Holy Cross and in Tomaszów Mazowiecki). Left without help, he did not realize his plans there. His prior, Father Arnośt Vykoukal, offered help, but he did not have the re…

ENGLISH: The number of female franciscan settlements in Sicily in the 13th and 14th centuries is limited and the r…

2019

In addition to the figurative, plastic and sculptural heritage of the church of SS. Salvatore di Corleone, mostly known from bibliographical or documentary annotations, there is also a wealth of decorative art. Hudožestvennoe ubranstvo cerkvej Valaamskogo monastryrâ XVII - načala XIX veka

2016

The collection of church art of the Valamo monastery belongs to worthy rarities. Due to the evacuation from Karelia to Finland, collection survived almost complete. Despite the fact that the collection is well known to specialists in Finland and Russia, the research processes is just beginning. Especially little information exists about the icons of earlier period than of the 18th century. Almost nothing is known about the number of them, neither origins nor something about the painters of them. Many icons of the 18th century from the Valamo’s collection decorated the monastery churches. For this reason, the focus of this dissertation is the decoration of the main interiors of the Cathedral…

"II –Il monastero benedettino", in Bonacasa Carra RM, Schirò G, Vitale E, Manenti M, "Il Monastero benedettino di Monreale. Dati storico-archeologici…

2016

In the Norman hunting park dominating the Conca d'Oro, in the second half of the XII century the monumental complex of Monreale began as a rational unitary body, consisting of the royal palace, the Duomo and the Benedictine convent which, from 1176, housed hundred Cluniac monks of Cava de 'Tirreni, called here by King William II; a wall, originally equipped with twelve towers, protected the religious community from possible external attacks. The goal of the founder was the creation of a strong instrument for the Christianization of western Sicily - still predominantly Muslim -, and at the same time of a prestigious dynastic mausoleum, in the explicit intent to rival all previous sacred impe…
